Infrared vs Traditional Sauna: What's the Difference?
Understand the differences between radiant infrared cabins and traditional heater-and-stone saunas before comparing equipment and installation needs.
By VertexAir Climate Systems — sauna installation team

Different ways of delivering heat
A traditional sauna uses a heater, commonly with stones, to warm the cabin. An infrared cabin uses radiant panels. The resulting experience and equipment layout differ; a room should be planned for its specified system rather than assumed interchangeable.
This comparison is about installation choices, not medical outcomes. We do not claim that either system treats illness, produces guaranteed health benefits or is suitable for everyone.
Compare the actual product specification
Look at the manufacturer's stated room dimensions, electrical requirements, ventilation instructions, controls and operating guidance. Do not assume all infrared products use an ordinary socket, or that all traditional heaters have the same supply needs.
Panel placement and seating arrangements are particularly relevant to infrared cabins. For traditional systems, heater clearances, sensor positions and ventilation must suit the equipment and room.
Ask about installation and ongoing support
Check what delivery, assembly, electrical work and commissioning are included. Ask who handles replacement parts and faults, and keep the manufacturer documentation. A low purchase price does not describe the complete installed scope.
Vertex Climate offers traditional, infrared, commercial and outdoor saunas, including custom sizes. We use Harvia sauna heaters and can specify two heaters where suitable for the design; infrared cabins use a different heating system. Discuss the equipment and installation requirements for your preferred type with our team.
