How to Choose the Right Sauna for Your Home

Choose a home sauna by matching the room, intended use, equipment and complete installation scope rather than appearance alone.

01

Write a short brief before shopping

Decide how many people will normally use the sauna, whether you prefer sitting or reclining, and where it should connect to the rest of the home. Include any access or mobility requirements that the design should consider.

List the space available and what building work you are willing to undertake. This makes it easier to distinguish an appealing product from one that can be installed sensibly.

02

Look beyond the cabin photographs

Study internal dimensions, bench layouts, heater clearance requirements and door access. Ask what finishes, lighting and controls are included in the advertised specification. Product photographs may show optional items.

Discuss how the timber and other room materials affect heater selection. Equipment choice should follow the technical brief, not be fixed before the room has been assessed.

03

Plan the complete project

The room or cabin, power, ventilation and access must work together. Identify whether a builder, electrician or other specialist is required, and who coordinates the sequence.

Compare written scopes on the same basis, including commissioning and handover. Ask about equipment availability before making assumptions about installation dates.

04

Get advice before you order

A consultation can identify practical constraints before you commit to equipment. Send measurements and photographs, even if the room is not yet prepared. For a garden option include the intended position and access route.
